Head Gasket

I already fixed my problem but I thought I would share it with you guys, I do have pics I can send yall as well. I was driving along and noticed when I pulled up to a light or to fuel up that steam was coming from my engine compartment. So I get out and look....well the head gasket had blown out, and I mean blown out water was pouring down the side of the block!!!!! So I limped it into a parking lot. Got on the horn with the local Dodge dealer had a buddy bring the gasket, pulled out my toolboxes and put a new headgasket on my truck in a Wal-Mart parking lot, thank god for 12v trouble lights, we even adjusted the valves!!! It took about a total of 8 hrs with parts getting and rigging everything back together and fixing a fuel leak or two.

Just thought you all would get a kick outta that.

I bet you could hire yourself out as a ride-a-along troubleshooter/mechanic and make a nice living. See a lot of country at the same time

How in the world did you get that heavy head off of there without a hoist? That's what I want to know. I've done complete fuel systems in parking lots before. But never head gaskets (hope I don't have to either).

Me and a buddy took off all the lines valve covers rocker assemblys, pushrods headbolts, pulled the injectors so we wouldnt snap the tips off. And undid the turbo from the down pipe leaving the exhaust manifold and turbo on for hand holds (and I figured that the manifold bolts wouldnt budge. We are both good size guys both about 5' 10" and about a 190#. We just hossed her outta there. it was a challenge but I had to get back on the road I had a trailer full of calves behind me.

See, Us Ohio boys can do anything if we just put our minds to it!

I just can't seem to put my mind to anything! I'll just say I have seen some weird things around here, but NEVER have heard of someone changing a head gasket in a parking lot. Tires, yes. Headlight, Yes. I've even done a starter or two, but a head gasket, geesh.

My hats off to Ya, and that don't happen often (I'm starting to show my age, at 19 )

Good Job,
Chris

Quiet down I'm trying to rest my eyes!

Go ahead, make fun, It'll happen to you someday! I know, I've made fun of my Uncle for years (who's 31 and bald for 10yrs)!

Just my luck I guess
