Having trouble installing NV4500 tonight... help?

Hey all, trying to get this dang NV4500 into my truck. Auto came out in a matter of minutes, I can't say the same for putting in the NV4500. I've cut the hole out in the floorboards bigger than it needs to be, I'll have to repair it somewhat when its time to put the shifter boot on. But the trans is still slamming into _EVERYTHING_, mainly the underside of the cab. I'm seriously thinking about cutting out way more than I need just to give me the room to be able to move the trans around. It seems like its mainly the shift tower that's hitting stuff, the bellhousing does knock into the bottom of the cab some, but I don't think that's the main problem.

Can ANYONE give me some ideas on how to get this thing in. My dads headed out now to cut 3" more out of the hole for the shift tower just so we can move around some more. I can get the bellhousing within about 2" of the bolt holes, but then I just can't wiggle the trans around any more to get things lined up right, it binds against everyting.

Did the cab for the 5spd 2nd gens have a different "hump" in the floor???

My truck is a 96 and the tranny is out of a 96 if anyone is wondering.

Even if you think your advice may not help, I'll listen... I'm up for anything now .

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have a 8am class tomorrow and ECU is about an hour and a half from here, and I'd absolutely love to have the truck finished, so it looks like I may not be getting any sleep tonight...

Thanks,

Dennis

i have taken a short 4x6 post and placed it between my floorjack and the front of oil pan and used that to tilt the motor on several trucks. removeing and installing the nv4500s with the bellhousing still attached to the trans can be a little tight. good luck with your conversion!

If you have the bellhousing attached to the transmission, take it off and attach it to the engine. Also, make sure you have the shifter stub removed from the shift tower.
