Welcome to DTR!

- I'll take a WAY OUT guess, you may be creating a vacuum in your fuel tank, check your vent fittings on top of the tank to see if they're plugged? I would hate to think that your VP is going bad ($$), but a symptom of this may be hard starts when it's hot....

Please fill out your signature so we know what you're driving and what mods you have -

I hope you have a FP gauge!

Welcome to the site. You need to have the codes read on your truck and hope you don't find a 0216. That can be a sign of a injector pump (vp44) going bad. You also need to get a in cab fuel presure gauge if you don't already.

Thanks everyone, I will check on these things, my truck is a 99 2500 24 v with this box in the enging compartment called superchips d-box it was on there when i got it, I think thats the only mod. it is also doing something new when you turn the key it just clicks once like a loose battery terminal, but cleaned the terminals and checked the wire at the starter, after that I tried just letting it crank to see what happens it cranked for about 20 seconds and started.

Check the starter relay contacts and do you have any gauges?

Fuel pressure gauge would help diagnose your current problem, EGT and boost would be great if you're gonna bomb anything or tow real heavy.

Yeah, welcome to the group.

Original batteries? Have someone else crank it over while you check voltage with a voltage meter (a gauge you should have, pick up a cheapie at RS for <$15).

Has it been starting okay since you finally got it running?

FP, Boost, Pyro - there are many way to mount them, most use an A-pillar, for which there are a million different vendors; I prefer the dash mount (check my pics) as it doesn't infringe on visibility.....

The FP gauge won't actually diagnose the problem, but XLR8R is right, if your LP is going south (low FP is a killer of the VP) and will show up on a FP gauge - I would advise you to install one ASAP. Isspro, Diprocal, Autometer seem to be the preferred gauges on this site....

FMB has a good point - how are your batteries?

If your CEL is still lit, get to Autozone and get the codes read, and hope you don't see P0216!

Let us know of any codes found / any further problems / what type of gauges you get -
