Hard To Find Parts
Hard To Find Parts
I cant believe Im asking this but I need to help out a friend. Does anyone know where to find air intake assemblys for an '87 Ford Ranger inline 4 diesel? A good friend of mine is trying to get his dads old truck up and running again and this part is the only thing keeping him from being complete. Thanks for any responses. -Tim-

Take a look at your VIN engine code. If it is an E, you have a 2.3 liter Mitsubishi diesel; if it is a P it is a 2.2 liter Toyo Kogo.
New Mitsubishi engine parts are available from Case-IH and Club Cadet dealers, but you will need your engine ID for their cross reference manuals.
New Toyo Kogo engine parts are readily available through Austrailian or pan-Pacific Mazda dealers. If you have a Mazda dealer locally that will take the time to work with you, they can still obtain parts for the 2.2 liter that was also used by the diesel Mazda's from the 70's and 80's, but most US dealers are no longer familiar with the diesel engine series.
