what are some hard to find/expensive parts?

***DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A "GET THIS FOR ME" THREAD PLEASE***

There is a guy locally that inhereted 4 warehouses of auto parts. the warehouses were started in 1946 all the way to 2003 and the owner has a TOOON of parts dating all the way back to 1906 or so he says. The previous owner made a habit of buying out old mom and pop parts houses in the 40's 50's and 60's it's pretty crazy. He gave a buddy of mine a set of diamond plate bedrails for our style truck and that got me thinking. This guy is just looking to get rid of whatever he can for whatever price he can so i am gonna head down there tomorrow and find all the parts i can for our trucks and offer him a lump sum. What i would like for you guy to respond is parts to look for that are usually hard to find or expensive that i may get a deal on first thing that came to mind for me was the TPS if he's got a case of them for next to nothing, i wouldn't complain about that... please DO NOT ask me to look for a part i don't want to get in trouble with the almighty admins if nothing else it should be fun, i've got 4 warehouses to look though, one is 3 stories and one is 2 he said he's got so much stuff that the hitches are up in the rafters!

Anything 1st Gen. Sounds stupid but there are a ton of parts obsoleted or a waiting list for a production run of the item.

Speedo cables, cruise control cables, steering coupler thingies, look hard for OEM Getrag clutch parts, 3.07 R&P's etc, shrouds, radiators, vacuum pumps, cowl crack panels, the diesel specific lower control arms, I/C radiator support. Did I miss anything?

I personally would load up on the correct vintage brake pads, shoes and rotors and calipers. Steel caliper pistons only. The right brake friction material works better with the steel the rotors and drums are/were made of. The new pads heat up more and braking performance is less and it wears out rotors faster or heats them up and warps them. Metallurgy was designed for orgnanic (that's asbestos). Don't huff the stuff and enjoy the best braking you can get on one of these trucks.

As big as the place sounds, I would look for some larger things like OEM seats, consoles, rear jump seats, dashes & clusters, tailgates, grills, etc. I know its a parts house and not a body shop, but the way it sounds there could potentially be some of that stuff there too.

Just my .02.....

That would be the very Bruce Campbell, 'Army of Darkness' and 'Adventures of Brisco County Junior' fame among others(had a character on 'Zena' too!). Wow...I'd just go ahead and relocate all my address info and just LIVE in 4 warehouses of auto parts!!

Need any help?...just kidding, kinda, sorta maybe
That is totally awsome. Look for Dually wheels for the first gens. It seems like they only used coined rims for a few short years. 1989 to 1993. Electric speedometers are another that fail at an alarming rate and are hard to find. The gears in them break. Starters, generators, PCM's, axles, NP205 transfer cases. Cylinder heads. Wow! I could really come up with a shopping list if given half a chance. First gen. injectors are not that expensive but the cores are getting hard to find. Cores are worth $150.00 some places.

Going through all that "stuff" is a gear head's dream. No to mention the fact you will probably find a lot of parts you could actually use. The wife says it sounds like my garage!!
