GVW - Need Answer Quick

Can someone tell me where i can find the empty weight of my truck. I know it can be 9000lb GVW. I need to make sure my 2500 Cummins can carry 2 sleds on a deck with 4 pax plus all gear and fuel. Do you know where i can find this weight ? Roughly ?

Short or long box? Also is it an aluminum Sledbed or an iron one? and the last thing are you packing rx-1s or revs?

I don't know about new ones, but my 98 short box 4x is 6900# full of fuel.

There isn't generally an empty or curb weight stamped anywhere on the truck. I know roughly it will be around 7000 lbs, but you need to weigh the truck for a specific answer.

The deck is aluminum (250 lbs). The sleds are 1 Apex and 1 Vector SE. Short box 2500 cummins 48Re with 315/70/17s. So if the truck comes in at 7000 or so i can only carry 2000 lbs is this correct. 1350 sleds, 250 deck. That leaves only 400 lbs for people and fuel and bags correct. So are you telling me i can't haul everything. Wow. Might have to stick with my 2 place trailer or go illegal.

My 2004.5 3500 SRW weighs 7600 with about 400 lbs of tool box, half a tank of fuel, and a nut loose behind the steering wheel. As for the weight issue, I've had 2 pallets of wet sod in the bed of my truck, and a 10k trailer overloaded, and had no prob. When the rubber stopps hit and start squeezin, it's time to back off...

I'm not worried about the weight for the truck rather the weight police on my case.

Red face Another solution

If you are around gravel pits or a truck stop- use the scales. some truck gas stations have them too!

We usually load heavy because we travel far in one shot. Best thing was to get it weighed empty, then with your gear before ya go.

just a note, in Canada East, a weight violation is one 600 kilos over the door tag weight. you are looking at braking ability for being a hazard on the road. and yeah, you can haul more with tthe trailer so just think about the safest route to having fun!!! Good luck!

When you start talking about braking does the 3500 not have the same brakes as the 2500 in the dodge cummins ?
