Fuel tank pickup problem

just dropped the fuel tank to change level sending unit and found two more problems,1 the metal elbows the lines go through have rotted through, and second more serious problem, is the outer cylinder sleeve that has a few phillips screws securing it to the inner plastic are loose enough that it has been sliding up and down, and worn into the grove a lil. does anyone have a part number for the metal elbow? and does anyone know a measurement as far as how long the whole unit should be? I don't think its supposed to slide up and down but I could be wrong, it just appears that it vibrated loose. thanks for looking!

It IS supposed to slide up and down. I don't know exactly why, but it is. As far as the pickup tube, this would be a great time to get a larger one, if you are going to turn up the fuel. Get in touch with someone like Smokindiesel.com to Piers to get the larger pickup tube (I'm not sure exactly who makes them but these guys have them or know where to get them).

ok, did SOME searching, Stan, you are correct it's supposed to slide, as far as the metal elbow for the lines I'm stuck either replacing the whole unit, or trying to repair it as best I can, as 4 parts shops areunable to help, trying to repair with a epoxy a bud got a from G.M. co is dexter, cleaned and sandblasted it, epoxy is drying, will paint and reinstall with new level sending unit and cross my fingers, ?? did come up as to if the tank was under pressure and how much, I don't know, maybe someone can answer that for me.
