Exclamation Front differential bearing, ring and pinion

Help! I have a 99 Dodge 3500 , we went to replace the front differental seal on the yoke side and found the bearing is seized to the shaft. Is this a pressed on bearing or is it actually seized?

I know the bearing is bad as we removed several peices and the cage that holds the bearings in the race, the roll bearings were flat on one side.

I purchased this truck on a repo from my bank, I think the former owner my have let the front differental run dry, when we drained the gear lube there was less than a quart in it.

I need some advice, will I need to replace the ring and pinion or is this normal? My mechanic is out for two weeks and I need this truck on Monday!

If I need to replace all of this could someone walk me through the steps as I have never replaced one before. Also what is the size of the nut on the hub to remove the axels, I don't have a socket big enough in my tools and will have to purchase one.

All help would greatly be apprecated!!

Steve

The race should be pressed on and the bearing assembly sits on this. That's why you usually get bearings with a ring and pinion when buying used. I'm not certain, but I think if you replace the bearings on the pinion, you need to do the ring gear/carrier too.
