I decided to check my front drive shaft for play as it was howling down the HWY in 4wd and my front axle pinion seal is gone and I have about 3/4" play in pinion shaft.
Has anyone replaced a front pinion bearing , just need to know what all needs to be done for replacement, do axle shafts need to be pulled out ?

You have to take everything out of the pumpkin to get at that. Youll need a case spreader tool to take the preload off that holds the chuck in there as as well as stuff like a dial gauge and stand, etc etc for when you rebuild it.
May as well make a full rebuild out of it and do everything in there while you have easy access.
