exhaust rattle

hello all,
i have an exhaust rattle when in park or neutral mostly when the vehicle is warm. you can see the pipe rattle from the front to back when it does this. i have replaced all the rubber hangers and rear hanger. this did not fix the problem. when the rattle starts you can hold the exhaust and the noise goes away. i have checked all the bolts and they are tight. the exhaust rattle comes and goes also while it is in park or neutral at a stop in drive the vibration is barley noticeable. what should i do next?

Is it coming from "inside" the muff?
Maybe inside the "CAT" or at the very least, so fire it up and crawl under and around and if you have to use a short piece of garden hose stuck in your ear to isolate the exact location, find the rattle and take care of it.

I had a small electrical connector plug that had a metal bracket on it that came loose and would rattle occassionally and it was hard to find but I did finally and it was nerve racking to isolate.

All you can do is simulate the conditions and look hard with a light and your ears.

Good luck.

Can't help you on the exaust, but I worked on the Incredible Pizza place there. Did some trim work, including the fake porch front on one of the eating rooms.

I made some extra hangers for my system because it rattles. I just used some all thread through an exising hole in the frame with two nuts and washers to hold it in place, sticking inward from the frame. Then slid a rubber two hole exhaust hanger on the all thread and used an extra exhaust clamp with a bar welded on it to hook into the rubber hanger. Once all that is in place you can slide the hanger forward or backward for tension and then tighten it up and it has worked well for me.

My Exhaust Does The Same Thing. I Have Had It To The Muffler Shop Twice And They Adjust Hangers, But It Doesn't Seem To Help. If Anyone Finds Answer Please Let Me Know.

Mine was ratteling at an idle also, a real high pictched annoying rattle that could be heard over the engine; so I crawled underneath and found that if I just held pressure left (toward the drivers side), it went away.

Then, I fired up my torch and warmed up the last steel rod that is welded to the pipe and tweeked it off to the left so it held steady pressure on the pipe.

This was 10,000 miles ago and it has not rattled since.

Worked for me.
