Exhaust Rattle

This is my fist time to post up here so I hope someone knows what this is all about and I don't look like a fool. When the truck is idling the exhaust rattles real bad. It seems to be coming from under neath the cab. All the hooks are connected to the bushings yet I still get the rattle. If I put my foot on the exhaust tip the rattle will stop. I was wondering if maybe something needed to be replaced. Any help would be appreciated. By the way the truck has the stock exhaust on it.
Thanks,
Manuel

Mine did the same thing,,, and what the shop found out was the tailpipe where it goes over the rear axle had a crack in it,, it was sorta U shaped and about 6 inches long.

Mine did the same thing exactly.

Ended up being the weld on the rear of the muffler where the outlet is, cracked around the entire circumference of the weld. To look at it, you couldn't see it. When you are looking at it while wiggling the rear tailpipe, the crack was very visible.

You have a crack or broken weld somewhere.

Excellent, I'll have to check that out this weekend. Might be an excuse to "upgrade" my exhaust.

Wild shot here. I thought I had an exhaust rattle and it turned out to be the 4x4 shifter. You might try and hold the 4x4 shifter to the left and see if the noise goes away. I spent a long time looking before I figured this out. There are a couple of different fixes for this.

My five inch rattles real bad and I just installed it two Saturdays ago. It aint cracked, just rattles. Everything is tight but when you get under the truck, it is shaking right where it goes over the axle, will make another hanger and secure it.

I have an aftermarket 4" and it rattles at idle. I talked to Rip and he and I both agree that it is inside the muffler. As loud as the engine is, the rattle is down right embarrassing.

I agree, sounds like a truck that is not maintained well at all, but we all know better, right?
