I was being nosey under the hood and decided to unplug some sort of sencor on the intake and the engine light has came on and will not go off
have i got to take it in to the dealer for a code rest or something of that nature??

Yes, a dealer trip is in order. You do not unplug anything on the 04.5 and up engines while the batteries are still connected as you can destroy the integrity of the PCM.
