Dipstick

i know this is a retarded question but i need to get my dipstick out cuz the guy that ATTEMPTED to replace my lift pump broke off the front of my dipstick. is it threaded in or is it just tapered and needs some elbow grease to get it out?

Thanks
Jared

Sometimes they have an O-ring and can require a stout tug.

Get a small drill and drill a hole in the plastic, then use a larger screw to secure it.
Pull firmly and dispstick will come out. Wanna know how I know it ?

Sounds familiar. I found the handle to my dipstick on the ground after swapping out the IP pump. I was sure i would have to disconnect the dipstick tube from the block, but really didn't want to go there. ...

I ended up getting a replacement from the Cummins dealer for just over $20
