Di-Pricol Install - Trans Temp ???

I am in the middle of finishing off the Guage install. I have to say these guages are sharp. I am installing (original thinking) the trans temp sender (dipricol) in the governor test port. When i try and thread the sender into this port it does not want to thread in. The sender and the factory plug are the same size but the dipricol sender is longer. I'm not sure if it bottoming out in there or not but it just won't go. I have a diagram indicating which port is the governor test port but i noticed it is for the 47RE tranny. Can anyone shed some light on this ASAP, i need to finish it up. Suggestions ?

The problem I've run into when installing senders in the port is that even though the threads are the same the tranny port often doesn't have enough taper to it. Easily fixed by running a tap down it.

I ran into a similar problem with a 47RE in a 2001. The plug was 1/8" NPT but you went past the tap depth the hole in the case was smaller. The sender would start, then the probe tip would hit the case (smaller hole) and wouldn't tighten down. I used a 1/2" compression T fitting and installed the sender in the output line of the trans. Compression T ?

How does that actually work over time ? I heard they all start to leak sonner or later. Is that true ? A guy from Piers Diesel told me they welded theres in place and never had any leakage ever. What do you think ?

Mine has worked fine for over a year now. Another member here RATTLINRAM has a similar setup (see his member photos for a detailed pic) without troubles as well. He posted part numbers from NAPA for his setup quite some time ago. You might do a search or p.m. him for his opinion also.

Considering what a total lost of fluid will do to your tranny would make me think twice about using a compression tee. There is just too much vibration from a diesel engine.
Cheap insurance to do it right with a ported line even though it costs more.

I was also considering the Magtech oil pan. How does this work out ? A few more dollars i know but maybe worth it in the long run ?
