Dead in Santa Rosa New Mexico! Lift Pump Needed
Hello everyone - My friend Mark's 2003 Dodge 2500 Diesel died while on a hunting trip in Santa Rosa New Mexico. It is believed that the lift pump went out. If anyone has a lift pump, even if it was a stock one that they took out to replace with a better one, please call him at 262-339-7032. He has the truck on the back of a tow truck - any help in selling him with a lift pump would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all your help - hopefully someone in the forum is able to help him out!
Thanks again - happy new year!
He does not have access to internet / computer therefore please, please call his phone at 262-339-7032
Thanks

If he has the canister mount lift pump it would be pretty simple to tie a raptor pump inline and bypass the stocker. If its in tank, i would think the truck would run because from what I've heard the cp3 can draw fuel on its own granted the pump will freeflow

If it was a canister mount - where would it be located / how would it look. I need to explain to him how to determine if it is in the tank or a canister mount.
If it is the lift pump, will it pull a code when it fails????

Canister mount will be on the back side of the filter housing.
He should have one unless it failed under warranty and was replaced by the dealer with an intank setup. If was changed under warranty they should be a sticker under the hood that say the fuel system has been modified and dated and dealer code on it.
I can't find a picture for you

we have had the canister mount fail in a way the cp3 could not draw through it but this is rare the cp3 can put out full power at negative 5 psi. i think he has injector wear problems. the ecm will not let the truck start if there is less than 3,500 psi on the rail. it is cold in santa rosa and this is when the problem shows up. one of our 03's did this in espanola nm we pulled it into a garage and warmed it up started it and drove it home. have him loosen the banjo bolt on the cp3 and turn the key on, if it is the lift pump no fuel will come out if it does it will be the injectors. not having a 2 micron filter has caused the failures. cummins said to use 5 micron Chrysler used 10 there was such a huge demand for new injectors that there was a nation wide back order for several months, they appear to be back in stock.the 2 micron filter is an additional filter. his best bet is melloy dodge in Albuquerque they have the pump in stock and will gladly put it on the buss or overnight ups
