Went out to start my truck a few minutes ago and the batteries were dead. The engine turned over a few times but then there wasnt enough juice to keep going. Sometimes lately I have noticed that the truck has been turning over slower when i havent driven it for about a day. When the truck does start and you drive it for any period of time, it charges the batteries and starts the next time no problem if you dont wait to long. The truck is parked in a heated garage at night so its not the cold doing anything. Seems like the alternator is working just fine and the batteries are charging when driving so I must have a constant draw when its parked and turned off. I have had one other electrical problem lately aswell. My trailer lights have been all screwed up lately when towing. The left hand turn signal for the trailer gets constant power which it shouldnt and my trailer brakes would lock on when i pressed the petal and i couldnt adjust them on the brake controller at all. Now The brake controller doesnt work at all so im guessing its fried. All fuses are good for the trailer stuff. I traced the wiring for the trailer plug back yesterday to a connector under the front of the cab on the driver side. I pulled apart the connector and found that the prong for the constant power wire had arced itself out on the next 2 connectors after it melted the plastic between prongs, the next two connectors that it arced to were my trailer brakes and my left turn signal. So I have the trailer wiring hopefully solved. Dodge isnt open here today being that its the "good friday" holiday and i found the problem late last night so i cleaned the connector up best as i could and put it back together until I can get the new connector on tuesday cause this connector also supplies the power for my all the lights at the back of the truck. Is it possible that the trailer wiring issue is causing this draw of power that kills my batteries? Any other ideas? Things to check for or where to start?

 

I would assume that you found your problem. When a hot is grounding out like that I wouldn't expect the batteries to last long.
