I have a 2000 4x4 2500 CTD,190k I drove to town tonight and went and had dinner and came out to go home and truck would not start,I can hear the lift pump running,fuel filter has about 8k since I changed it last.I fear the injection pump,can I check for codes without a scanner tool?I will have truck towed to a Cummins garage,if it is the pump,what kind of price on parts and how many labor hours to replace?The truck was running great up to this point.

 

You can turn your key on and off 3 times leaving it on the third turn. In your odometer you will see a code or codes come up. If you don't see it there your check engine light will flash. Count the flashes and it will tell you the codes.
