Clear, slightly sticky liquid leaking...

I just drove my new (to me) 03' Dodge 3500 Dually home from Ottawa to London yesterday, & I see now that there is a clear, slightly sticky water-like liquid slowly dripping from the driver's side bottom corner of either the rad or the intercooler.

It's been dripping since noon, & I haven't started the truck at all today. Coincidently, I carefully washed & brushed the bugs out of all 4 rads, coolers, etc. at the front of the truck, & noticed this drip after. I thought it was water, but it's still dripping & like I said it's slightly sticky.

Anyone know what this could be? No I didn't puncture anything... unless one of the neigbours did it while I wasn't looking!

It's going to the garage for a Safety Check tommorrow anyway, so we'll check it out then.

Sounds like a mixture of soap and water to me! LOL Antifreeze in your truck should be reddinsh orange in color. Power steering maybe.....there is a cooler up there, but usually it would have been changed to ATF which would be red. Let it dry overnight, and see if it continues. Probably just left over water and soap, and it'll dry overnight.

It's actually dripping off the bottom driver's side corner of the rad or the intercooler, & this is what concerns me. The washer fluid is blue, so I don't think that's it. I know the anti-freeze is orange, because I pulled the rad cap in Ottawa while checking the fluid levels.

I put a plastic bowl under the drip & I'll see what my buddies at the garage think it is. If I had time today, I would have traced the drip back to it's source.

Spot on diagnosis! It was still dripping at 10am this morning & I noticed a salt stain at the edges of the dried-up puddle on the asphalt. Jack at the garage tasted it, & it was salty.

Conclusion: When I washed & brushed the bug carcasses from all 4 rads & coolers, there was so much water accumulated in the fins, that it dripped for almost 12 hrs. The reason it was salty was because of all the road salt accumulated in there. Once it warmed up, it stopped dripping!

I'm too stupid to live!

Good deal John! Next time, drive it a little ways to blow the remaining water out!

Thanx to you too! I tasted it myself last night & it tasted slightly salty to me too & I thought it was road salt too. But what concerned me was the "slimeyness". I should have clued in, because I was using Ivory dish-detergent in the water, that I was dipping my little brush in!

I just didn't think that it would drip for this long.
