Check engine light is on and not shifting right.
Ok, my check engine light came on the other day, but the truck seemed to be driving alright. Well the next day I noticed it was like a slug moving from a stop. Once I get it up and going it picks up speed pretty good and it seems to wind up in first gear way too much. Turbo is working, at least I can hear it and my gauge looks normal. Now, today I left to go home and it would not shift out of first gear. Pulled over and turned it off then back on and was able to get home. It was shifting, but just like it has been. I took off the Power Puck as soon as the check engine light came on so I know it's not that. What could it be? Anyone have any suggestions?

I took it to get the codes read at a auto parts store I go to alot and they told me they can't do it anymore. California law now prohibits them from doing it. Oh good 'ol California. Didn't want to spend $200 right now for the tool. Been looking around and read a few threads about the speed sensor. Could that be my problem? How hard or easy is it to change?

Usually, the speed sensor will cause the brake light and ABS light on the dash to stay on and the speedo will bounce around. Mine is a 5 speed, so I don't know about your tranny issue. It's on top of the rear diff and is not hard to change.....one bolt job.
You really need to get the codes read before you start throwing money at it. Maybe you can ask around and find someone that has one.

Well I tested it out today and I don't think 1st gear is sluggish, I think it is starting off in 2nd. If I manually shift it into 1st it has good power. I guess I will have to go get me the scanner to see what codes it is throwing.
