Hi,
I was going to Yellowstone through Cody Wy and my check engine light came on. The truck runs Ok and the manual said something about smog controls. Does anyone know about this and what might fix this?

 

you need to get a scan on the computer for codes.

 

Smog controls? Oh yea, California.

When my APPS went out, it did the same thing but with a different code.

 

do you know if you have an egr? you might have a sensor full of exhaust crap. look under your hood and see if there is a metal pipe that runs across the motor, that would be the egr (exhaust gas recirculation) chris

 

I'll check when I get home tomorrow. I know I was pushing the engine hard and for the first time I had exhaust scum by my exhaust pipe.

Turns out to be my ATS Transmission (Torque Commader) that caused the problem. Seems the box has to be reprogrammed for California emissions. They send me a new box to put in to fix the problem. BTW the Stage V transmission worked great pulling my 12k 5th wheel to Yellowstone and back.

 

good to hear you found the problem, thats the only thing i dont like about california is the stupid emissions stuff the put on our trucks.
