Why would you look at the pickup in the tank?

I say that because you seem to be getting air into your fuel system. You say your lift pump is good, youve blead the injectors and have fuel at the injectors, so why wont it start? Either the injectors are not blead properly and you still have air trapped in the fuel system or you are letting air in the system....if not in the tank, then where?

There's no air in the fuel system. I re-bled everything after it ran. Not a bubble to be seen. ECM, maybe?

I ran into this same problem this past thursday before I left town for the Tulare pulls. I pulled out the new Baldwin filter and compared it to the old Napa one. Guess what? It was just a hair different. I checked the numbers again using a filter conversion book, but that said I had the right filter for my truck. But I could see that is was different! So I went down to Napa and bought another Napa filter. The truck started up after a little cranking on the starter.

So you changed the fuel filter.
Bleed the system, good flow at the injectors.
Started the truck up ran fine for a bit then would not start again.

Bleed system again, have steady fuel at the filter housing, and the injection pump.
also have non frothy fuel comming from the injectors?

Problem will lie with the injection pump, either a mechanicle or electricle.

Or the system still isnt bleed out fully and now you have air again in the pump.

Crack a few injectors #2,3,4 and have some one crank the engine over. Watch the fuel comming from them, is it frothy, is it clear, is it steady flow, intermittant?

Then get back to us.

Thanks, I'll give it another try. BTW: I cranked the trunk on ether. Too scared to try it again. Truck will not start on it's own, even one second after I killed it. It's like there's something not switched on.

sounds like it may be cranking too slow, or you have a weak crank sensor. once the ether gets it cranking quicker it runs fine ( am I right? ) I would pull the starter and put a new crank sensor in, * if after you check and charge the batteries it still has a problem.

What flavor does CROW come in?

Got home, reset everything, pulled hypertech programming out. Still no start. Cranks very fast, btw.

Gave it a baby shot of ether, fired right up and ran GREAT! Ran it for a half hour, around the block, full throttle etc. No sweat! Killed it, turned the key, started right up. Killed it waited five seconds, no start. Has to be an air leak, maybe a bad filter/gasket leaking air.

So, I pulled the filter, checked the gasket, reinstalled the filter. Primed, (good flow, btw). Cracked the injectors, got a bubble or two. Still no start. Shot of ether, fired and ran great. Killed motor, immediately turned the key and started again. Killed it, waited five seconds, no start.

Bad filter, maybe?

Half a tank of fuel. I read somewhere about a bad filter or gasket causing a condition like this. I'm going to pick up another filter tomorrow, and keep trying.

Is your lift pump draining back to the tank after you shut it off?

i had the same no start problem. The only thing is it dident happen after a fuel filter change. On mine the lift pump was sending to much pressure to the vp on start up and making some little pins close.Unplug your lift pump and try starting it with the pedel to the floor and see if it starts. Sometimes the lift pump gets a hiccup from the computer.

The o-ring is there, I pulled it to check for all the o-rings. I don't know it it's draining back. There's plenty of fuel in the filter canister.
