brake booster

What type of symptoms would I experience if my brake booster on my 94 is going out? I have replaced the front rotors and pads. Also replaced the rear master cylinders with the chevy 1 tons, rear drums and shoes. Pedal is really hard when I get in the truck in the morning. I get shaking when I apply the brakes but I have had the front rotors and rear drums checked and all is good. The shake does not seem like a normal braking issue. I have also checked all the front end components and could not find any issues.....

Thanks....

Dave

booster would be a hard pedal...it would take alot of weight from ur foot to stop the truck...the red brake light would also come on and off ...i recently had the shaking going on and finally fixed it...turned out it was both warped rotors and drums out of round...when i got the gmc one ton wheel cylinders it just became very pronounced...id make sure that ur rear brakes aren't too tight and back them off a bit..I would also make sure your calipers are sliding properly...

I have new front rubber brake lines as well. I just put new rear drums on again because the first ones warped in two days. Could the chevy 1 ton wheel cylinders be causing my rear drums to warp?

Thanks......

hard pedal could either be brake boster failing or a vacuum leak somewhere....or ur shoes are adjusted way too tight and driving with tight rear shoes will warp or leave hot spots on ur drums ...is ur red brake light on when the pedal gets hard?

Mr T I do not see my red brake light on when the pedal is hard. But my back brakes are driving me nuts ever since I installed the chevy rear wheel cylinders. The day after I did my brakes my rear drums warped when towing. Napa replaced the rear drums and they warped/hot spots again in 5 days. All brake work was done by Big O Tires. Always have had good luck with them as they service all of my work trucks including my old 94...

As for a vacuum leak here is a thought. I installed a valet switch on my truck. Could that in any way cause the hard pedal if I have a leak in the valet switch side???

Thanks for the help.......

So here is a update to my problem. I found that my emergency brake cable was allowing my rear passenger drum to adjust it self tight every time I would reverse. The cable was causing my rear drum to eventually tighten up and warp the drum. I found this out be grabbing the E brake cable going into the passenger rear and I could get the adjuster to move by jerking it around. As long as I do not use the E Brake the passenger rear does not self adjust. So is it possible the E brake cable on that side is hooked up wrong? Is there more than one way to hook it up?

Has anyone else had this issue?

So what are my options on replacing the E Brake cables? New from dealer? After market?

Thanks....

Dave
