Body shop rip-off?
Body shop rip-off?
I was crunched a few weeks ago by a semi, and have had my truck in the shop for 2+ weeks now; I had mentioned to the guy that the fuel gauge went from 3/4 to 7/8 after impact, and asked him to check it out. After pulling the bed off, he arrived at the conclusion that the IN TANK FUEL PUMP and float system needed to be replaced, and got approval from the semi's insurance carrier to do the $400 swap.
This is the FIRST I've heard of an in-tank fuel pump.....did I miss something here?

- thx, guys; I couldn't find any wiring for such a beast listed or mentioned in my Chiltons, nor any mention in the full Dodge Service manual....the gasser trucks have an in-tank pump, but....
- maybe I had better tell the shop that they're working on a DIESEL?!?!
...you don't suppose the original owner put an after-market pusher pump in, do you??

There is NO fuel pump inside the fuel tank of your 99.
