blowing fuse
blowing fuse
well tht problem i have is i didnt check to see what fuses were in my truck when i bought it 7months ago..the previous owner put a 30amp in the 20 amp stop light spot..
MY PROBLEM: the wires melted about 8" up and wrecked the stop light switch. i got a replacement harness and connector, stoplight switch..i sawdered (sp) all the wires and checked up farther in the harness for melts and found nothing. put the new fuse in and pushed the brake and the lights worked...drove down the road and checked the fuse and it had blown..how do i fix this..where do i look.. does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2000 dodge?? also the part # i gave them for the stop light has been upgraded to another one ..would they change it to use a 30 amp now?? please help as the fuses arnt cheap...thanks in advanced

Fuse hasn't been changed to a higher amperage by Dodge. I would start by looking at the trailer connector and wiring. Thats the most likely place for a problem. I've seen everything from bad sockets to a bulb cause the fuse to blow. Check it all over very closely.
