Bled system...truck wont start...VP44?
Bled system...truck wont start...VP44?
Well fellas...recently i had the in-tank retrofit system installed on warranty...and I had low fuel pressure....so i custom made a harness so I can run the regular LP and the in-tank pump at the same time....I bumped the starter and It went up to 16 psi almost immediately...so then I bled the VP just like I have done many many times before, and no start. I figure I was getting too much pressure so I unplugged the fuse for the in-tank pump so just the regular LP would run, I had about 7-8 psi on the guage which is lower than the 3-5psi I was getting before this project. So then I did the same bleeding prossess that I have done many many times before and...no start...so I crack another injector...no start...now i have injector 1, 3 and 4 disconnected...normally i have just 1 & 3 when i bleed the system....well then I closed injector #1 then I tried and it fired up!! on just injector #1 and ran for about a second then died!
So what is this??? Now I just turn it over and over and over...but no start. any suggestions??? is my injection pump toast? or what? It is still under warranty and I am glad atleast I am home. Instead of on the road...like I would have been this weekend.

It may be the pump. I take it on the loose ones you do see some fuel coming out as you are cranking, but the volume just isn't there. I had a truck towed in from a quick lube just last month that did that. Poor guys put a fuel filter in it and thats where the VP decided to die. I put on a lift pump as the one on the truck was dead, primed it, loosened the same lines you accessed and only got a little bit of fuel flow. Installed a VP and when I cranked that one up the fuel flow was quite obvious. Hopefully you'll have a tech that can see beyond the "no code" issue and fix your truck.
I tried resetting the APPS https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1
and cranked it over...and ITS ALIVE!!!
now lets see how long it runs....hopefully it doesnt break down on my run this weekend.
