Big pothole anything the city will do about it

Last night I was forced to hit a pretty good size pothole and it ended up popping the top balljoint out of the spindle right now its sitting on the shaft of the joint. Is there anything I can do against the city on this. Such as have them pay for the repairs?

I hit a pothole on the interstate here in GA last year. Bent a rim and bubbled 2 tires. Called the transportations dept, they sent me to the insurance dept. They had me send pictures and an estimate from my local dealer. 2 weeks later I had a check. It was easy, I called in expecting a fight.

Call 'em, file a claim.

The top ball joint is threaded. If it popped out of the A-arm you may need a new A-arm. At least that's how my 93 is. Bottom one is pressed in... top one is threaded.

Well all that happened was it popped out. didnt bent control arm or the shaft so I just beat it back in and tack welded it in place.

pothole

I work as a Risk Manager and in cases such as yours the first time something like this occurs it is our policy to not reimburse the individual if we did not know about the defect in the roadway. However if we do not do anything about the problem the next repair will be on our dime. I am not the most popular person at times, but there is no way that we can monitor every inch of roadway or sewer main twenty-four seven. Make sure the proper agency is made aware of the situation so that they will be on notice.

Monday I went to Home Despot and as I pulled out, I avoided a DEEP pothole in their parking lot. I did a double-take as I realized someone else had hit that hole and had lost a complete full-size(suv/pu) spare tire with sparetire carrier arm and cable assy still attached. It was all sitting smack in the middle of that pothole and nothing stuck out above the rim of the pothole!
Man! they must have really eaten that hole hard to not realize they ripped that much hardware loose!
