Question band adjustment instructions please?!?!?

i need someone who can give me very detailed instructions on adjusting the bands in my tranny. i.e. torque specs, where the adjusting screws are, and even illustrations etc. etc. Or if no one can tell me can you please direct me on where i can find something like this. NOTE: i already visited "Fritz's Dodge Ram Tech" but wasn't too satisfied with the info but if there isn't any other place then i'll have some questions from that sight but we'll start with this.

thanks all in advance

This is a very good one,
I have never adjusted my bands, Just yearly oil and filter change and use ATF+4 and don't get on it till lock up. Mine shifts very good as long as my TPS is clean.

Unless your tranny is slipping in 1st or R you are likely to do more harm than good by adjusting the bands.
My stock auto went 212k without adjusting the bands even once.

Unless you have a very good inch pound torque wrench(snap-on or similiar), I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself, as it is very easy to overtighten bands, and burn out your tranny.

If you have lots of miles on it, and tow or drive it hard all the time(with some type of timing/fuel box), it is probably time to set them, and change oil and filter. Better off to take into dealer with a good transmission man, and let him do it. It's not that hard, you just need to be very precise.

im curious why do some guys swear that a routine band adjustment is necessary and some say leave it alone or else you'll do more harm than good?

A lot depends on if you are doing lots of towing, if you have fueling/timing box on, injectors, etc, then you'll need to adjust more often than someone that doesn't tow lots, or is just stock.

Because the bands are set in inch/lbs they can be easily overtightened, which will burn out friction material on band clamps, especially if you don't have a good quality torque wrench. Then you have to tear into tranny to replace them.

IMO they don't need to be set every time you change oil and filter either(I used to set mine only once a year towing along with filter and oil), you maybe better off to leave them until you notice a change in shifting quality.
