You shouldn't be able to make it click with just your hands.

It is bad.

Okay, when you say front u-joint do you mean a front axle u-joint or a front driveshaft u-joint??? Cause your front driveshaft should not be spinning when you are in 2wd. If it's a front axle u-joint then could cuase your symptoms.

If your front driveshaft is spinning when you are in 2wd you have something else going on.

The u-joints are not very expensive probably less than $30 a piece, but axle u-joints are a big job to change, front driveshaft not nearly as involved.

well well i jacked up the truck and finally inspected the front drivers side and its the darn axle u joint(drivers) it wiggles pretty nicely the passenger side doesnt budge a bit....the wheel is on very tight ...the entire hub is wiggling and the looseness/slack is at the u joint...

so a couple questions please guys....what will my approximate cost be at a shop so i know what numbers to expect...the part is like 30$ right? ...i looked at it and it looks like a pain in the butt trying to get all those pieces off
any suggestions? get it done or is it a weekend job?

2ndly i dont tow or anything can i drive with it for a couple weeks if i take it easy?...its just an annoying lil vibration

the seals are in the tubes a little, the drivers side is next to diff and the pass. is next to the disconnect for 4x4,if you don't have a oil leak i wouldn't mess with the seals, the axle shaft that wigles is the same one with bad u-joint rite?, one end of axle is suported by the diff other suported by the hub if joint is bad it wobles in that spot because it can't suport load and run true giving viberation and transfer suport to ends...

That is a sign that that fluid has been in way too long. I would drain and refill with some good fluid real soon.

P.O.R!!! u got it right on...it wiggles where it comes out the axle not the portion that comes out the hub...but there is NO leak not even a hint...so ur thinking U joint? that was my original thinking....the local shop told me 2 hours labour for the U joint sounds right? what about the seal?

Did you check your center support bearing? Mine was grinding for 2 weeks, driving me nuts. I thought it was a wheel bearing, turned out to be the center support bearing.
