All of the sudden.....

Went to some friends house last night. Truck was parked facing up hill for like 8 or 9 hours. Go to start it and nothing, just cranks over and over and over. Ticked off so I get out and pump the lift pump like 8000 times and nothing. Pump it some more and it stutters but doesnt start. Finally after holding my foot on the throttle and pumping the lift pump it does start but it runs like junk for the first minute or so and you have to hold the throttle to keep it going. Then it just idles out and runs smooth. Whats the deal? Truck has a remote starter so normally I just hit the button and it fires up, now it just cranks. Nothing lead up to this either, it was all at once, no tell tale signs of parts going out or anything. HELP!!!!!!

Probably old cracked rubber fuel/return lines are allowing air to get into the system and causing you to lose prime.

I agree, to me it sounds as if the fuel system is losing prime, and there may be a hole somewhere. Hence the necessary repeated pumping of the LP.

fuel shut off solenoid is not being activated or doesnt stay up...there is a blue wire (i think blue) that runs ot it that can be cut or corroded...put the key into the on position but dont start...get out of the truck go under ur hood and check to see if the solenoid goes fully up...most likely it wont...and u found ur problem...

Truck fired up fine this morning, so I am confused. I didnt have a chance to mess with it at all on Sunday so I guess I am lucky it started. I will have to dive into it later, busy week.

Was the truck parked nose up-hill last night?

No it was parked nose down, when it gave me trouble Saturday it was parked nose up. I would say that has something to do with it but Sunday morning I went to the store and it was hard to start and it was parked nose down, just like last night. I am getting teflon/braided lines from work to replace my return lines but I dont know exactly how much I need. I also ran five gallons of waste motor oil in the last tank, maybe a fuel filter is now in order?
