All over the place

I don't see a lot of people talk about the steering gear box on the 99 Dodge 2500. Has anyone had any experience with this and how much or how hard was it to replace. I have already put on a new Track Bar and it has improved quite a bit but still has about 2 inches of play in the steering which can be quite nerve racking at about 75mph when trying to pass or when it is real windy.

Have you adjusted the steering gear?

The gear box is not hard to replace. You center the steering and remove the shaft from the input of the box. Mark and remove the pitman arm. Remove the hydraulic lines. Loosen the mounting bolts and drop the box. Reverse the steps for installation. The torque values are high, 180 ft/lbs so make sure you have a torque wrench capable of that. Buy a PSC box, they are the only ones to have. They cost about $50 more than reman but they are spot on.
