ABS pump keeps running and lights stay on

Sorry, did a search and can not find this specific problem. 2004 2500 4X4 18k miles. Wife went to store , turned around at the end of the block and found Brake Light and ABS light is on. Turned off engine pulled key and heard a motor running. Was like that until I pulled the battery cables. Only way around it was to pull the ABS motor fuse. Speedometer works fine, brake lights work. Any sugestions?

There are two common problems that lead to this condition. The first is a failure in the add-on aftermarket power enhancement module, and can be easily tested by removing the module. The second is a transmission controller related issue, and will require a dealer trip.

Sometimes people back their trucks into a mud bank and get damp mud in the trailer wiring connector which shorts the trailer battery charge power lead to the brake light circuit and will do the same thing, but that is rare.

The ABS on all 2001 and newer trucks have a pretty intelligent error detection logic module, and it is a good idea to have it scanned for error codes to identify the cause.

Thank you. I did remove the Bully Dog Torque Dog with no change. I left it off as it looks like it is a trip to the dealer.
