98 12V Issue

Need help. My O/D keeps kicking in and out. Already set the TPS and bought a new brake switch. It's still doing it between 60-75 ALOT. What could it be ? Could it be my Torque Converter?

Could be the solinoid in the valve body or maybe the switch it self is shorting or the wiring to the lock up clutch?

It's probably noise interferance in the line causing the converter to lock and unlock. I know my truck as well as a lot of others has done the same thing. I used aluminum foil and wrapped the wire going from the alternator to the passenger side battery and that fixed it. Might want to try it and see what happens.

I dunno what causes it, but for some reason they get some weird noise that causes it to do it. DTT makes a noise filter for this exact problem.

A long wire is the same as an antenna. A long wire being moved by an engine running at a certain speed can cause the wire to generate a wave signature which is picked up by the wire and can confuse certain electrical components. I don't know if that's it, but it sounded good.

Yep
According to BD the noise is picked up from the charging system?
Anyhow the noise filter is cheap and does work. As said insulating the wire would probably do the same job? On your truck its the orange wire with the bark blue tracer coming out of the right hand (closest to the engine) block out of the PCM

Did it look like either one goes to the tranny? If so, I'd start with that one if you're going to do the foil wrap.

Okay here is an update on my truck.Don't know exactly if this was the issues or not but it is not doing it anymore. My vacuum hose had like a little melted spot in it, and the ground wire that they put on my TPS to the battery was not tightened up all the way. Thanks to my husband going over things with a fine tooth comb. . Cin's all happy again.
