98 1/2 with super chip

with super chip in safe tow mode the truck throws the 0216 code. with super chip removed the truck will not throw the code. the truck will throw the code and you lose power. you can let off the acc. and push back down and will have power. Here is the kicker with super chip installed in cool weather the truck will not throw the code and the truck run great. Help

Which ever way you look at it, your IP is done. Sorry to be so blunt, just my two cents. Do you have a fuel gauge, what is it reading?

Now now, don't be so quick to say the IP is done. Many people are hard on them, but if it is caught soon, it can be saved. My LP failed at 144K, and now I have 170K and the IP is still going. Hopefully with good fuel pressure it will keep going.

I'll agree, my LP was bad when I bought the truck with 130K on it. I now have 140K with no problems with the IP so far. I also have the Superchips tuner. I would check your fuel pressure, I bet you lift pump is bad.

yaw -but did you get the 0216 code? it might last a day, or it might last 6 months, but he's going to need a IP sooner than later IMO

Maybe something is wrong with your programmer. Has it always thrown the 0216 code or did it just start?

Doesn't sound good. I bet you will be shopping for a new IP soon.

the electronics in the ip dont like heat, thats why it doesnt act up in the morning when its cool, in the afternoon it has had time to come up to ambient temp, and it acts up, i would start shopping to be sure or that 42 mile drive might turn into a long walk.

You definitely got the death code with a VP44 acting up like that when it's hot.

per dodge tech book, a code po216 is a ,ip timing failure, items to check are high fuel supply restriction, low fuel pressure,or possible wrong, or incorrectly installed pump key way. also the ip is cooled with your fuel, if the pump is over heating the pcm sees this and derates the output of the pump to help it cool off. it sounds to me like a lack of fuel in tow safe. try max power, perf tow settings also. see if problem happens in all modes, if only in tow safe, I'd bet it's the programmer. also just for kicks when the problem happens again, grab the fuel line leading from fuel filter to ip. see if it is hot. if it is the fuel heater may not be turning off [ on 45* + or - 8* off at 75* + or - 8* ]
