93W350 Not charging, Need truck ASAP, Please help?
The truck has no AC or Cruse. I bought a reman alternator from Advanced auto and cant get it to charge.
I tried everything from AlldataDiy.com and everything I know. Please HELP I am at my wits end.
I was supose to be in NY yesterday and have been working on this all day. I dont know what else to try. Thank you in advance.

Check all connections first. There is a dark green or black fusible link (depending on production date) which is in the main (big) alternator wire. Make sure that is not blown. The alternator is regulated through the pcm so it is rare that section of the pcm is blown, if it is, you can wire in a voltage regulator from a 1991 truck, however i would put my money on a bad alternator. I would get an OEM one, much less issues. find a place that will check it for you.
good luck

I cant seem to get the alternator to put out any power by its self, meaning when I ground the field wire and check the charging lead from the alternator, when it is disconnected from the battery, I get 0 volts. The only thing that I didn't do is check for amps in series with the volt meter. that what it said to do on Alldata. All my connections are good, some new, and the battery is fully charged. They tested both the alt I took off and one I brought back, both were sporadic, sometimes they would charge and sometimes not. I don't know if its just a batch of bad remans or something I'm doing wrong?
Short, short, short or ground. If you've modified anything, stereo, headlights, etc. start there and work back to the battery. Something is dictating current over the alternator. Exposed wires, bad connections you just have to trace.... Just my .02 If necessary set everything back to stock on any wiring and figure it out when you get back from NY. If nothing has changed I am still thinking a short or a ground. It's not like these things don't hold any dirt/rust (sarcasm). Good luck.
Y'all are barking up the wrong tree.
This is a classic problem on '92-'98 trucks. The PCM is not getting a signal from the crank sensor so it does not think the engine is running. So you get no A/C, OD, or field current to the alt. Check the crank sensor for proper gap (0.050", non-ferrous feeler - matchbook cardboard folded over once is close enough), and check the wiring to the sensor paying special attention where it goes around the corner of the head.

I've posted this pic before, and I don't know how common this problem is, but when I had the same 'no charge' problem you are having, I found a broken wire behind the windshield washer tank that runs from the alternator to the PCM, (or there-abouts). Of course, this was after I bought a new alternator and PCM. And the PCM was NOT returnable, so that was $500 down the drain.
The solution Wanna offers seems to be the more common problem tho, so you might 'wanna' try that route before you go tearing into all the crud on the fender well.
The wire was in the vicinity of where the blue arrow points in the pic.

Hope this helps you.
