89 6.2 diesel wont start unless plugged in?
http://dieselplace.com/forum/ ask on the 6.2 forum. i believe your question has been answered here though. if the glow plugs are not working properly you will not start it on a 70 degree day. do they cylce more than once and how many seconds do they stay on. i check mine with the test lite mentioned above works great. we have four 6.2s on the farm most bought new with anywhere from 150k to 300k+ and even yes the motors for us seam to be about done at 250k they are cheap transportation cared for properly.
I currently own an `86 6.2l 1 ton 4x4.I live in Florida and I always have to hit the glow plugs weather is 40 deg or 100 deg if it hasn`t been started already. And even after it sits for an hour or two.But its **** hard to start if all of the glow plugs aren`t heating. Also have you changed your fuel filter lately. The reason asking,I recently went through a spell of hard starting and I had fuel.I changed the fuel filter and its been running great since.
Correct, if it has glow plugs, you have to light em up for a few seconds when the engine is cold. I have a 82 GMC, with a 89 6.2 (J-model) engine. I always have to use the glow plugs unless engine is already warm.
