55 - 65 MPH Howl

Got in truck tonight to go to work and between 55 and 65 there is a howl. Not present Above 65 or below 55. Did not have this problem before and I don't know if it is the air horns picking up the wind. Any ideas or suggestions?

It very well could be the horns, since you didn't have it before.

I had a noise in a previous truck that was driving me crazy, turned out it was a window mount scanner antenna vibrating just right in the wind that it resonated through the back window.
I only found out when it loosened and fell down, and the noise stopped.

I will try to cover them and see if it makes a difference, but they have been up there for 4 months with no problem. I actualy called the wife from work and asked her to log in and post thisn for me. Sometimes, the graveyard shift SUCKS.

Firestorm, I have to agree Phox It's probably the horns. I had a noise at that speeds only when I was towing my trailer, it almost drove me nuts ! It was just my tires! I don't think it's anything serious.

That would be a 2 wheel drive, with an open ( non-posi ) differential. When the truck gets stuck, one tire looses traction, that is the '1 of 2' tires driving .
I covered the horns last night using big Ziplock bags, and didn't hear it. So I will remove the bags, and if I hear it again tonight, I will know it was the horns. Thanks guys.

If it is, just buy the chrome air horn covers. They keep the bugs, rain, snow, etc. out also.

They are on there, I had rmoved them earlier in the day to clean them up, then re-installed them before going to work. That was the first time I had hear it, after 4 months with the horns installed.

Maybe they were a little loose causing a vibration.
