24v not running right.....

ok well i was driving back from school today and i jumped in my truck and fired er up and took off. i got out on the road and i could tell that she wasnt as responsive as usual. i drove for about 2 or 3 miles and it got progressively worse.

i had it at about 1/2 throttle and it would sputter then catch back up then sputter again. i pulled off the road and cleaned my battery terminals for the heck of it and it still did it.

from an idle i can throttle it and it will slowely and i mean slowely gain RPM's it dosent smoke at all and i had over 15 psi of fuel pressure the whole time. i could tell one time that i should have had 25-30 psi of boost but i only had 7. i got it to the shop and cracked the #3 injector line and i have fuel.

I also reset my APPS with no luck.

only code is p1693

so any ideas?

vp44 is under warranty. the FP guage stays pegged. And it takes its readings directely at the injection pump.

I think you may be on the right track, but I would still check the holly blue first.

If you have the 1693 you need to have it scanned for the hidden one.

Often they won't show up with the key on/off method,
and also won't show up with the off the shelf scanners like Autozone or the like have.

The Dodge DRBIII/MDS2 Scantool can actually talk to the ECM, not rely on the PCM to relay the codes.

theres no smoke at all .if it was no boost I think it would smoke more. it will start and idle fine , step on the go peddle and just slowly biulds rpm's but no power and no smoke at all only code is 1693 and the check engine light is on , sounds like the vp44 but no 0216 code wire is tapped but I sell wood to the service manager at dodge and he winked at me and said he can handle it

Get it scanned. I'm betting po216 is hiding behind the p1693

I highly doubt it with the wire pierced. Unless you have friends @ the dealer.

I say it's your VP-44. Those symptoms are exactly the same as what I had when my VP went out. As far as the wire being pierced I had mine replaced under warranty without any issue from my local dealer after I spoke with the head diesel tech.

Take it to the dealer and have the VP44 changed out.
