2 gallons of oil in 30 miles

got your attention right? heres my story. puke bottle was re-located to outside the front frame rail. checked oil last night and decided pull the hose out of the bottle and let it hang to see if it would leave less oil on the underside of the truck.

left the house this a.m. and notice a large puff of white smoke which soon went away. after letting out of the throttle the white smoke appeared again. then cleared up again. this was all within 5 miles. for the next 25 miles everything seemed normal. at my exit ramp for work i noticed my oil pressure was down to 20 psi and not fluctating with rpm increases. upon my arrival to work i found the entire underside covered in oil dripping from everwhere on the truck. oil level barely on the dipstick.

i was thinking it had to do with the puke tube. the weight of the tube hanging had it pinched shut. i put it back in the bottle, changed the oil filter, and started to add oil that was soon landing on my feet. coming from the side of the engine behind the injection pump. feels like a rubber gasket. did i pressurize my block and blow this? it runs horizontal.
have i done more damage than i see?
help please.

i have had a similar situation happen today. i though mine was coming from my dipstick. i'll look again when i get a chance. mine puked all over the fuse box, brake lines/cylinder, and went out the hood along the d.s. fender.?? i'm totally baffled as well. i'll keep you posted what i find.

Thats what happened you pushed the gasket out with the crankcase pressure. Happened to me once you have to remove VP-44 to make the repair. There are some posts on here or TDR that give a good detail on doing this, do a search. Thanks Steve B.
