Sorry, I don't have a part number.
I can't look at lift pump pressure with my OTC Genisys but I can look at rail. I don't know if the drbIII can do lift pump. They may have check it the old fashion way.

lift pump "VOLUME" test is perfomed with a special tool and using the DRB under systems test. Your "slow to return to idle" has me wondering about your fuel control solenoid. It is what the ecm uses to regulate rail pressure. If it's sticking or not working correctly it can cause that to happen. Watching rail psi isn't worth a thing if you cannot monitor setpoint.

Is this the solenoid on the back on the injection pump? Do they also call it a Fuel control actuator or am I off?

Well everthing I checked came out ok or within spec! It would still do the problem but it started getting real hit and miss and still wouldnt throw a code!!

GET THIS!!! Turns out it was the air filter!! yep thats right!!! the air filter. I put a new one in about 4k ago and the element was fine but the metal backing plate came off and allowed the eliment to start getting sucked inside out! So when I would stand on it hard the filter would suck up into the air tube!! The filter was all inside out and the metal mesh was torn out of the rubber backing! Was really crazy looking so I bought a different brand filter so hopefully won't have that problem again!!

No It didnt suck anything in? I fugured it would have but the element was still all together. It would just suck it up and block off the inlet hose! You could see on the element where it was all flipped up and perfectly round! Kinda odd for a filter with only 4000 miles on it! Guess I will have to keep my eye on it to see what this on does or keep my foot out of the throttle!!!

I learned that the hard way on the '03 too. Thing ran like crap, exactly as you described, for about 2 weeks. Wish I had seen this sooner, I could have told you about checking it.
