04 drive line or rear end prob, please help!

i noticed my truck seem to have a bind or something when coasting down a hill. it seems to be a little worse the slower i get. i tried checking to u joints on the rear driveshaft but couldnt really tell it they were bad. the one closest to the rear end was pretty hot almost to hot to touch for more than few seconds. i checked the fluid in the rear end and it was to the fill plug. im not sure where to start or how to tell if the u joints are bad. the truck has 87000 miles. thanks for any help

If the rear U-Joint was too hot to touch I'd start there as far as where the problem is. It should not be very hot. When you change it be sure and mark the drive shaft as to where it mounts to the differential. Sometimes if you do not put them back to the same position they were it mayl cause a vibration per prior posts.

If your U-joint is bad then the best thing to do is replace them all with one that has a grease fitting. Would save you alot of headache if another drops while your on the road. I gave less than 25 each for mine in my 05. The dealership wanted 77 and some change each. EEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPP
