'03 quit running "HELP"
I am looking for some advice for my brothers truck. It's a '03 3500 /6speed that just decided to stop running. He was in it driving it around, got home and parked it. A few hours later he started it up, put it in reverse let off the clutch and it died and was unable to restart it.
I thought it may be the lift pump so he replaced it and the filter but a no go. He checked fuel from the filter housing to the CP3 and it has great pressure and flow. He cracked injector lines but there is only a dribble comming out.
My thought is obviously the CP3 but I know that they are pretty reliable and there are other items on the pump like the relief valve and FCA that may be the culprit. I was also thinking about the crankshaft position sensor but I don't know how that ties into the CP3 output or if I'm just reaching. There are no active or stored codes.
Any Ideas would be appreciated because I'm not there to actualy look at it so I'm having to coach him over the phone and it's pretty critical that he gets it running to get to work. The nearest dealer is 40 miles away so getting it diagnosed isn't that easy and cheap. Also if it maybe the CP3 are there any suggestions for a cost effective replacement.
Thanks

I couldn't get a hold of my brother about the exact code that it was but it was something like cooling fan malfunction. I know it had to do with the fan just can't remember exactly what it said or what the code number was.

try and see if it will start with starting fluid. yes i know everyone says its abig no-no but i have done several times with no problems on several trucks. if it does then that will isolate the problem to the injector lines not getting enough pressure to open and can lower the options for whats needed to be replaced
Try unplugging the FCA and starting. Do not let the truck run for more than a few seconds. This should tell you wether or not it is a CP3 problem. Also look under the truck at the fan clutch wires. They have been known to get caught up in the fan and get shredded.
