Reading yesterdays edition of The Wall Street Journal yielded some very interesting information. It wasn't an article - no, it was an ad. A half-page ad was hawking a new product to be introduced in the fall of THIS year.

Mahindra Motors (you know their tractors as licensed knock-offs of International B414/440's) will be introducing a small/midsize Turbo Diesel pickup for the 2010 model year. So far, it looks like there will be a crew and standard cab configuration.

I would have loved to get a crewcab Dakota with the Sprinter inline 5 cylinder diesel and a 6 speed manual transmission. That is exactly what I told ChryCo I wanted when they sent me a questionnaire after we bought the Jeep.

I bet it sells well here. Mahindra is known for their quality overseas.

Beats the TaTa that is coming out of India soon, the world's cheapest car at about $2000 USD

I would love to have one. I don't care for the looks, but you would get a lot of people asking and wondering. Looks fun too.

Since the truck is built in India and imported, when I call for warranty information will I speak with someone in Detroit?

Yeah, I was also thinking Toyota lookin, mixed with an old Datsun. And what happens when it breaks down and it's a daily driver? Good luck finding parts, wait 3-4 weeks for them to ship out of India? I have heard good things about their tractors though. And I love the comment about warranty information. It's gettin bad these days. Try calling Ryder breakdown service and try to explain what you did to fix their truck, they're all foreign. But they say their name is Larry....sure it is.

I would drive that, 28 to 35 mpg, 300 foot lbs of torque from an I4. Bring it on, power and fuel economy, I've asked Chrysler and GM to build a (fuel efficient) mid sized truck with a turbo charged, inter cooled I4 (or V6), 4 wheel drive.

I don't even get a PFO letter back...

It looks so foreign. 150 hp and 300 lb-ft torque is pretty good for a truck that small though.

Hey Nick, I will agree with you on that one. Those freakin idiots on the other end of the phone don't hardly know what a tire is let alone a brake chamber diaphram Then they call you ever tem minutes looking for an update, really makes you want to deal with it at 2AM!!!

I'm glad someone else on here knows what i'm talkin about there. They must have a list of questions they have to ask ya, I replace a tire and they ask if its a permanent fix. Then they want us to hold chambers at our shop for 30 days for possible warranty issues. Talked to a guy at our local Ryder shop, they want them to start carrying every brand of chamber and replace a bad one with the same brand, ya gotta be kiddin me, they already stock like 6 diff. brands of filters

And there's a car called the TaTa coming out for $2000? You can't even get a fake tata for that cheap...

And while we're on the topic of cheap foreign cars, whatever happened to the rumor of wal-mart selling vehicles?

Do you work for Ryder or are you an "outside" vendor? I know what you mean with using only the OEM part on the truck, only problem is you can only keep a pat in inventory for 1yr. then you have to send it back. Well kinda hard to stock stuff that you can't keep long enough to use it!!! The onlt time I got to talk to someone that was state side was on New Years eve. She was nice, and understood every word I said. It was only thing I liked about that frickin' night! Got the call @9PM didn't get back to the party till almost 1AM. Missed the whole **** party and the tuck was less than a mile from the shop and the party!!!
