Re:Are you kidding me???

I would like to thank all of you for trying to make me feel better, ya right! :-* Like I said I am going to try the calculation method and if that does not work... off to the shop... you guys can stop bragging now ;D

You are using an Americcan calculator and not one from out of the country right ??? Those from other countries are not that reliable.

My truck breaks all the molds. Its an 01, auto, 4x4, with 4.10's and I am getting over 19 mpg with my mix of city & highway with 1 to 2 tons in the bed.

Re:Are you kidding me???

I have a 03, manual trans, with only 600 miles, first tank of fuel and computer indicates 16 mpg. I figure due to new and Calif emisions. Hopefully it will get better.

Re:Are you kidding me???

I average 14 mpg on my 24 mile round trip work commute here in SW Pennsylvania on some pretty serious hills. I average around 10 mpg while on the interstate towing my 9k lb 5th wheel at 70-75mph.

Re:Are you kidding me???

Just make sure you fill it to the same spot, otherwise you'll get unaccurate numbers.

As bad as Diesel Fuel foams, if you just fill till it clicks off itself, you'll never fill to the same level.
Especially in the hot summer.

Last time I filled up I was able to get 2 gallons in after it clicked off.
Yes, it took a while, fill a little, let the foam die down, fill a little more, more foam to die down, etc.

I gained 1 MPG just making sure I filled till I could see fuel.

Re:Are you kidding me???

I second what phox_mulder said. I found 1mpg just by trying different brands of fuel. My worst mileage came from the big truck stops.

Re:Are you kidding me???

I posted this in the towing forum (I was having a pre-senior moment at the time). I was getting just barely under 20.

As y'all know, I had to go from Belen NM to Arlington Tx for Grandpa's funeral this past weekend. Thursday during lunch, I filled the truck with go-juice at Loves' at 6th & I-40 in Albuquerque and drove home. Topped off the tank at the local stop & rob over by the house on our way out of town Friday morning. We went from Belen through Mountainaire through Vaughn and on to Roswell. Then to Plains TX, down through Seminole, over to LaMesa and then down to I-20 and straight into Arlington. Our one fuel stop was in Ranger, TX - 591 miles and 30.1 gallons after leaving Belen. If the tank was 5 gallons larger, I could have driven all the way from Belen to Arlington without stopping for go-juice. I love the fuel mileage these things have.

Re:Are you kidding me???

Braggin'???? Nope, we're just stating facts. Course, those other vehicle types might consider this bragging and gassers definitely know it as bragging. Running a combination of freeway and city, empty, RFF (right foot factor) under control (well, for the most part anyway), at just under 17k miles, I've finally broken into the 21+ mpg average. ;D ;D And the best part, I'm still not broken in. Got another 3k miles to go before that great day. I use Shell/Texaco exclusively (because up here, Texaco stations are really Shell stations in disguise) and Power Service. Found a source for Standyne so will be switching over to that for awhile. I noticed that there seems to be great emphasis on filling the tank to the same point, all the time for more accuracy. If this is true, why? What's wrong with setting trip odo at the last fillup, noting how many gallons on the next fill and noting the miles travelled since setting the trip odo. Always worked before. Maybe I'm missing something here. ??? ???

Re:Are you kidding me???

I always get between 950 - 1,000 Kilometers to a tank of fuel thats to when the light comes on. Or about 620 Miles to a tank of fuel sound about right?
