As I sit here and type this message...l watched the traffic increase for the 4Th of July and most of the summer... Last winter I watch the highway and it was empty... You could lay in the middle of the highway last winter for a good 5-10 minutes without seeing a vehicle...

At least the (D)s are consistant...........
When they were in the majority and the Big House, everything that went wrong was the (R)'s fault.

Now that they're no longer in the majority or the Big House, everything wrong is STILL the (R)'s fault.

Commodity Speculators "guessing" what the: (Take your pick)......
Market/Middle East/OPEC/Weather/Detroit/China/Little old lady from Pasadena will do in 6 or 7 months is one of the main reason the price of oil is going up and down.

Figuring we are going into a high travel holiday weekend and the price of fuel just went down a little bit from where it has been the past month, I don't think it is all that bad.

yeah,,thats got to be it.those ignorant democrats thinking its a republicans fault.and as for all the when clinton was in office, well,,i really dont remember much then,,just low interest, lots of jobs, sign on bonuses everywhere, and low fuel costs..............and if you want to be one of the many that say that was because of what was done in office before him by republicans, then by the same logic, you must also say that the greatest pres of all time, the reagan, was really just riding on what happened because of what happened in office before him by carter......cant have it both ways.....go ahead now,and get mad and flame away,,after all,,thats what your leadership does,so why wouldnt you?.....................bama

The unfortunate reality of current fuel prices is that a hotel overnight can cost the same as taking the travel trailer. My family car, a '96 Passat TDi, gets high-40's. Ten gallons in the Passat and a hotel room night, vs. 40 gallons in the Dodge and a trailer night is suddenly a relavent comparison. RV outfits ought to be as worried as we are.

Like the President has anything to do with oil prices!!!!eyecrazy]

Free market is what America is all about gentlemen!!! If We as a nation would go after own oil reserves or alternative fuel sources (B100) there would be no need for OPEC!!!

FACT: Only 11% of our oil comes from OPEC anyway!!!

I can tell a lot of people must have flunked economics.

Think this is bad, wait until water is a publicly traded commodity. Don't laugh, it's going to happen.

Cut'n Paster from The Dallas Morning News:

Diesel prices hit record high

Freight haulers' fuel now costs more than regular gasoline

08:38 PM CDT on Monday, July 4, 2005

By JORDAN ROBERTSON / The Dallas Morning News

Diesel fuel prices reached a record high of $2.394 a gallon Monday amid heightened demand for the delivery of consumer goods.

The average cost for a gallon of diesel has risen 35 percent over last year as the workload for diesel-dependent freight haulers has steadily increased, according to AAA data and industry analysts.

"It's sort of a bad news-good news thing," said Peyton Feltus, president of Randolph Risk Management in Dallas.

"The bad news is fuel prices are higher. The good news is that's because our economy is doing very well."

The increase comes as crude oil prices have risen aggressively, recently trading around $60 a barrel.

And in the last year, diesel in the U.S. has overtaken regular unleaded gasoline as the pricier of the two products.

Unleaded prices fell slightly to $2.226 on Monday, AAA reported.

Mr. Feltus said refineries are continuing to invest in their plants and increase their yields, which should prevent shortages and more diesel price hikes.

"Without supply disruptions, I think we're very near the peak for the season," he said.

"It's definitely a stress on the economy, but we're handling it well."

Nationally, the average price for a gallon of diesel was $1.775 a year ago, according to AAA.

Texas also set a record of $2.302 on Monday, up from $1.668 a year ago.

Must just be in Dallas that the ecomony is doing "well". Round here everyhing has gone up but wages!
I can't believe that Diesel going from $1.75 to $2.30 a gallon is a "good" thing. I still don't get how it over took 87 Octane? It's just not practical, NEVER has it even been the same price, let alone 15% more, WHY NOW??????????

Look, I started the president remark with no intentions of turning it into a political debate. Thats the whole problem, too many political parties blaming each other for whats wrong with the country and trying to screw the other parties while making a profit for themselves instead of standing up like a true leader should and doing whats right for the elective office they hold and instead of doing whats right for the elective party they are a part of. Woooee, that last sentence was too long, sorry Mrs, Erickson.

Admit it though, don't you find it highly suspect when both the prez and VP are heavily invested in the petroleum industry?

I find quite a bit of conflict of interest myself.
