Get an Afe stage II intake or make the whilly's whistler and you'll be whistling right next to him!!!

I believe they use a variable geometry turbo that acts like a small housing under no/low boost conditions. Small housing=turbo rotating faster=more sound.

I think.

it's the VGT turbo, and nothing will make a cummins sound like that except a VGT

I thought it was a VVT (Variable Vane Turbo). As far as I know Holset is the only one that makes the VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) for the new 6.7.

i always thought that was the owner whistling a happy little tune to himself because he thinks he bought a better truck considering Ford owns cummins and Ford won't put that crappy motor in their truck...

I think it is either a 03 or 04 Powerstroke, but with a exhaust and intake, it is THE loudest turbo I have ever heard. Something about just that one year, it has 7 fins, I think, that makes it that loud. Many Powerstroke owners have switched because they like the sound so much

My dad's 6.0 had a 5inch exhaust on it, the whistle was very loud.

The Powerstroke has the variable vane turbo's. The vanes change their pitch. The Cummins has the variable geometry turbo, where the dimensions of the exhaust housing change.

I personally see VVT's and VNT's (and whatever other fancy acronyms the manufacturer want's to use) as falling under one larger category of VGT's, but that's just my opinion.

Or, we could just call them "fancy whistling turbos".
