Where to buy block heater timer?

Finally discovered a way to plug my truck in up here at school.

I'm wondering where you would purchase (online or otherwise) a timer where I could set the heater to come on a few hours before I wake up

Thanks

Get an outdoor rated timer from your local home center or hardware store. Such as one that would be used for outdoor Christmas lights. Inexpensive and works great.

5 bucks is a great price. Just make sure you get one that is rated for at least 15 amps and has a ground prong on the cord.

Thanks guys. I went down to HomeDepot and got their Heavy Duty Timer... same one pictured above but apparantly I screwed myself because they wanted $18 for it.

It says it must be mounted vertically and 3ft above the ground but I do not have that luxury currently, so hopefully 1ft above the ground and sideways is good enough

Also, how long should I leave the beast plugged in for in the mornings? For some reason 4 hours is sticking in my head, but I'm not sure where exactly that idea came from. Right now I have my box set on 4-5 hours.

Dont feel bad.. I paid over $20 at Lowes for the timer pictured last month - I needed an outdoor timer for the christmas lights, but wanted a spare in case my truck one quit working.. Two years ago I paid about $13 for the same timer at Target that I use for my truck..

None of the Walmarts in my area carrierd any outdoor rated timers..

I've been using one of these for 5 years.

It's plugged into an inside outlet with a large gauge extension cord running through a small hole drilled in a wall and sealed back up.
(If you unhook one end from the extension cord first, you can drill a much smaller hole )
That way, if I want to go ahead a 'let her eat' all night long, I just flip the switch on from inside.

At the 700 watts the grids draw I doubt there is a household type timer made that won't handle it.

Needless to say, I bought mine in early December.

Funny how you never think of it in June.
