Wheel/Tire combo, how big for stock 1500?

I have recently purchased a '97 Dodge Ram 1500, and it needs a new set of tires badly. It has the stock 16" ugly wheels on it, and I want to get a new set of tires/rims. I was thinking about some BFG A/T KO's on Mickey Thompson Clasic II wheels. I don't want to go bigger than 10.50 wide, because I have to drive in the snow, not sled on it. Any experience, or suggestions would be great!

Thanks!
i'm not too sure on the rims but a 305/70/16 will fit on the stock rim with a slight bow. they are a little wider that you are looking for but they wont rub taking corners or moderate off road. i'm not sure how much snow you get but my last set of tires were 305/70/16 mt went great thru all kinds of snow/ice/mud just my .02

I had a 99 1500 with 285/75/16 BFG AT KOs the tires were great on snow. I had them initially on factory 16x7.5 rims, they rubbed the lower tailing arms. I then went to American Racing 16x8 Outlaw2s and they rubbed the inner fender wells. This was with no lift. I am currently running 305/70/16 Mastercraft Courser CTs on factory 16x8 rims on my 2500 and they rub the lower trailing arms as well.
Ryan,
I'm surprised you are rubbing with the 305/70/16. I have the stock suspension stock rims with interco tsl 315/75/r16 and i get no rub at all. the truck came with the camper and plow prep from the factory but, it dosen't sit that much higher. the stockers were 245/75/16 on a base st truck.

The suspension height doesn't effect the link arm rubbing, tire/wheel width does. I did have the rub on my 315 BFG's with stock wheels, until I cut back the steering. They only rubbed at full lock.

Later, Rob

Rubbing will also depend on the backspacing of the rims.

phox
