Also, I think I should mention something. My question was directly asking about a first gen truck. The rep from cummins refered to the ISB cummins. I'm sure the rule applies from 88-07 5.9 liter though since he refered to the B.

Where I work, GOMACO, we use alot of Cummins 6bt and 4bt as well as the bigger ones. I was just on a service call to a 91 model 6bt that had 15763 hours on it. They said it had never been opened up. The machines are set to 2200 rpm max. They have a pump box and 3-6 pumps running off of them, no gear to gear loads. They spend most of thier life at 2200 and the rest at idle. I think its amazing how long they run considering the general lack of maintence most of them receive. The fours don't seem to run quite as long for some reason. The 6ers are rated at 160hp.

I have 184,000 miles on our company International and it has 4200 hours on the clock. The truck is driven 90% on highway and that = 43 mph average. Idle time really cuts into the speed per hour. So I guess how fast you drive and how little you idle makes a difference. To average 60 mph you would have to drive fast all the time, really fast.
