What the Heck are "Plates"?

As in stock plate moved forward 40 thousands or #5 or#6 etc.?<br><br>Sorry if it is a stupid question!<br><br>

That's the throttle plates on a 12V engine located in the rear of the P700 injection pump. Think of it as the metering adjustment for the fuel injection.

The fuel plate adjust the rack position on the injector plungers in the pump at full boost position on the P7100 pump. (94 - 98.4 trucks).. Clear as mud right???
Well take a boo at this site Dodge Ram.org and look through the diesel section. It has some description of the fuel plates and their purposes.

Then take a look at this page.PIERS Diesel This is an adjustment to the governor lever that rides on the fuel plate. Also a general description of the plate and function.

I have to poke around some more for a better description on how to adjust it. There was a great write up in the TurboDieselRegister magazine about 2 issues ago about how it works. Not much help here though. [undecided]
