Sounds like you are a glutton for punishment? Why continue to buy a Dodge when you say they fall apart? I have 160K on the original trans on the CDT, and I put 100K on a Dodge gasser trans before I traded. Sounds like you have a maintance problem to me.

Don't feel like you are being cheated, I managed a fleet of Chevy's. Terrible quality, and many, many more problems with rearends and trannies than the few Dodges and Fords we had. Based on this experience, Dodges were the most reliable, then Ford and.........

4 dodges under my belt, The gasser in my believe was by far the best, Not really i love my cummins but let me explain why i feel this is.

When the truck was my mothers, I had just gotten my lisence, Father was changing the oil for her. put 2.5 qts in, had to take care of something and someow thought he was finished, Simple mistatke, Ran 900 miles like that no problems, Lost a water pump, which was alright truck had 170ish on it. took her to the mechanic, That dumb what not has high school kids come in for a shadowing program ( see if they like that field) and let them work on my truck and must not have double checked everything. None of the hose clamps were on and it spewed all the water. She had gotten purty hot by the time I noticed ( the familys 2nd ctd pulled me home haha) But she kept tickin to 230k when i traded her in on the 04 cummins.

Im sure the ford or chevy gassers could take that abuse, but the 360 has been a good engine for me

Dodge shot themselve's in the foot in the early eighties around the time they were building the Aspen/Volare/k-cars junk. Unfortunately it will probably be many more years STILL untill the myth of Dodge making crappy vehicles goes away. Was having a convo with a co-worker about Dodge vrs Ford trucks (quality wise) and there was absolutely no convincing him.
Whatya gonna do?

what does maintainence have to do with dodge not having the drain holes in there doors lined up, fifth gear falling off and the light switch catching fire. tranny fluid was changed every 30,000 and bands adjusted. me and my brother have owned trucks since we've been 16 and done all of the work on them ourselves so we know a little about them. in my opinion chevy makes the best truck i've had alot of friends with chevy's and all of them have over 130,000 miles on them and haven't rebuilt them yet. I DON"T OWN A DODGE I OWN A CUMMINS!!!!!

i would if i had the money to do the conversion and i dont like the way a cummins sets in a chevy it sits at an angle. actually i seen a guy with a 2004 ford with a 12v cummins that looked pretty sweet blow the doors off mitchell last year.

I hate getting to the brand wars but here I go. So far I believe Dodge builds the best truck at the moment, not perfect, but good. I had a '98 Chevy C1500 and it was a descent truck, full of rattles, rear vent windows leaking, radio died, water heater insert into the manifold cracked, and other little issues like brake pull and just plane crappy brakes. Also had the bad fuel pump whine problem. Glad to get rid of the truck at 50k miles.

See if the others tell you that the first teardown comes at 400,000 miles....

Chevy looks like something out of the "VACATION" movie.

Dodge has ummmmm................ a nice motor. I owned one, and it was ok, wish it would have been a 12 valve though. I also liked the 4x4 in it. Put it in and its in 4x4. The rest I did not like very much. I got caught up on the Cummins hoopla, and it left a bad taste at 86,000 miles.

Ford has got a nice ride, and interior. All around truck is nice, but the motor does not hold bombs as well. They will get that worked out I am sure.

Chevy has alot of nice things. Overkill on electronics it seems, and the front axel seems to be a problem on the pulling track. They also like the rest have crappy tailgate straps. Get VR straps and be done with it.

one reason i have always liked dodge is that they make "home mechanic" friendly trucks...they're very simple and you can work on them no problem...parts are cheap for quick fixes or adjustments...all the new trucks INHO are going in the wrong direction because its all computer wizardry...that annoys me because i know "what" the problem is and i know i can fix it but the computer issues force me to get it done somewhere...thats not cool.... chevs are the worst at this nowadays...its all luxury and fancy electronics that light up for no reason and ur forced to go to the dealer

anyways dodge is superior because they make beefy trucks...everyone can see that on the road ...i hear the way the kids are talking and they all notice the dodge trucks quite a bit more based on brawny looks....next...the cummins is the beefiest motor u can get in smaller trucks till u have the 7.2 CAT as an option....forget the "tranny talk" there isnt a stock tranny out there right now that can stand behind the cummins unless u get a 2000 series or up Allison out of a bus and put it in

i must mention that my lil trusty middle seat/briefcase is awesome as well
as for new things?

hydroformed frame
cummins
nv5600

NOW dodge is coming out with the full crew cab....ouch thats gonna hurt chev's sales (Ford who....they already shut down their plant in Ontario near me here)
